COURTNEY MICHELLE PILKINGTON left us unexpectedly and much too soon, at 28 years old, on the morning of April 24, 2020.
She was born in Houston, Texas on April 9th, 1992 to Margaret Pilkington (now Norton).
She grew up in Houston, Spring and Waco, Texas with her mother, her younger brother, Dylan Ballard, and her younger sister, Ashley Boeche. She graduated from Connally High School in Waco, Texas in 2010.
It’s true that Courtney had her struggles, but she was working hard to overcome them. She went through a lot in her short life and came out the other side of it still smiling…. complete with her signature red lipstick.
Courtney had recently realized that she had an amazing talent for art and spent a lot of time drawing beautiful pictures. She was even toying with the idea of learning to do tattoos. She had a great work ethic, loved working, and put 110% into everything she did, whether it be work, art or other endeavors. She was never quick to give up on anything she had set her mind to.
As a lot of you know, Courtney was honest to a fault. While she occasionally told a lie to try to get herself out of trouble (even though she’d always get caught!), honesty was her natural default setting. Sometimes, she would tell the truth, even when a lie would have been better.
To know Courtney was to love her, no one was immune. And when she loved, she loved hard. Her boyfriend, Thomas Martin, was the one she felt like she was meant to be with forever. She called him her soulmate.
As for those she considered friends, whether she kept in touch or not (she was terrible at that), she loved each and every one of you. We all know that she was hard to get ahold of and never seemed to respond to random texts, but she loved you all. Know that. Believe that. Even if you haven’t talked to her for years.
When you think of Courtney, celebrate the good memories that you share with her. Please remember that life is fragile and short….and she would want you to live life to the fullest. Please know that her struggles are now over, and her pain is gone. She will always be remembered for her beautiful soul and her amazing spirit that could not be tamed.
Courtney was preceded in death by her biological father, Jason Lawhon of Elgin, Texas; her maternal grandmother, Sharon Bellamy of Houston; her “claimed” grandparents, Jesse and Anne Sapp of Waco, Texas and her beloved great-aunt, Charlotte Doyle of Houston.
She leaves behind her broken-hearted “Mommy”, Maggie Norton and her “Pa-pa”, Michael Norton of Burleson, Texas; her “Big Little Brother”, Dylan Ballard; her “Baby Sister”, Ashley Boeche; her two “Bonus Sisters”, Jillian and Mikayla Norton… and her beautiful, brand-new baby nephew, that she loved so very much, P.J. Noe; her soulmate, Thomas Martin, as well as many friends, both new and old.
The family is accepting donations to help with the unexpected funeral expenses.
